Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) production in 2025 reached 51.66 million tonnes, representing a 7.26 per cent increase compared to 2024 production of 48.16 million tonnes. Hadi Sugeng Wahyudi, Secretary General of the Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI), announced that palm kernel oil (PKO) production also increased.

“CPO and PKO production in 2025 reached 56.553 million tonnes, which is 7.18 per cent higher than 2024 production of 52.762 million tonnes,” Hadi said at a press conference on Palm Oil Industry Performance 2025 and Prospects 2026 held at Shangri-La Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, 12 March 2026.

He explained that PKO production in 2025 rose 6.41 per cent to 4.893 million tonnes from 4.598 million tonnes in 2024. Consequently, total combined CPO and PKO production reached approximately 56.55 million tonnes throughout 2025.

On the domestic consumption side, GAPKI recorded total domestic usage increasing 3.82 per cent from 23.859 million tonnes in 2024 to 24.772 million tonnes in 2025. The largest increase occurred in biodiesel consumption, which rose 10.97 per cent to 12.704 million tonnes from 11.447 million tonnes in the previous year.

This biodiesel consumption growth was driven by the increase in the biodiesel blend mandate from 35 to 40 per cent. Meanwhile, oleochemical consumption also increased marginally from 2.207 million tonnes to 2.234 million tonnes, representing approximately a 1.22 per cent rise.

Food consumption experienced a decline. In 2025, food consumption was recorded at 9.834 million tonnes, down 3.64 per cent compared to 10.205 million tonnes in the previous year.
