Oil palm farmers in Aceh Province are experiencing a period of joy as the price of Fresh Fruit Bunches (TBS) has remained at a high level from June 2025 through to mid-2026. The stable and favourable pricing has motivated farmers in Indonesia’s westernmost province to take better care of their plantations. Field observations indicate that farmers are becoming more diligent in clearing their land to maintain the productivity of their oil palm crops. A farmer, Teungku Zakaria, stated that this positive trend has been felt over the past few months and has provided good stability for farmers’ welfare. “In early May 2026, palm oil prices were holding steady in the range of Rp2,500 to Rp2,700 per kilogram. Now, it has been stable at Rp2,700 per kilogram for about a month,” Teungku Zakaria told Media Indonesia on Saturday (11/7). The price increase and stability are evident in several areas of North Aceh Regency. In the sub-districts of Matangkuli, Paya Bakong, and Pirak Timu, the price of TBS was reported to have reached Rp2,700 per kg. This figure is considered highly favourable and provides a decent profit margin for local farmers. Abdullah, a farmer from Pirak Timu, acknowledged that the current high TBS price has had a significant impact on the financial condition of families and the surrounding community. He noted that the palm oil sector is the backbone of the local economy, which is now strengthening. “Despite the ups and downs of this profession, the current price has a real impact on our economic well-being. Hopefully, this price will persist and continue to bring us happy profits,” Abdullah said. The stability of TBS prices in Aceh is expected to be maintained to support the recovery and strengthening of the grassroots economy, particularly in the plantation sector, which is the main source of livelihood for many residents in North Aceh.
