Cow marked 'TIW' at Masjid Fatahillah yields 700kg of meat
The management of Masjid Fatahillah in Gejayan, Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman stated that a sacrificial cow marked ‘TIW’ has been slaughtered, yielding 700 kilograms of clean meat to be distributed to local residents.
Muhani, chairman of Masjid Fatahillah Gejayan, said in Sleman on Friday that the 1.1-tonne cow was sacrificed on the first day of Eid al-Adha (27 May), involving local residents and mosque officials.
“The live weight of the TIW cow was 1.1 tonnes, a metal jumbo breed,” he said.
Masjid Fatahillah, located in Padukuhan Gejayan, Kalurahan Condongcatur, Kapanewon Depok, Sleman Regency, is situated near the residence of national figure Amien Rais.
Muhani explained that from the live weight of 1.1 tonnes, 700 kilograms of clean meat was obtained and distributed to locals and beyond due to the mosque’s abundant meat allocation.
“Some was distributed to Kulon Progo, Magelang, Wonosari, and Wonosobo, particularly for mosque members with relatives there or currently residing there,” he added.
Muhani admitted this was the first time receiving a 1.1-tonne sacrificial cow, especially from an anonymous donor.
“Everyone was surprised how it arrived at our mosque, but we are grateful—alhamdulillah—our provision has increased with such a large cow; everyone is pleased,” Muhani said.
He explained the giant cow arrived at Masjid Fatahillah on Wednesday morning (27 May) with information that the donor’s initials were TIW, matching those inscribed on the animal.
“TIW is a secret—I dare not reveal the name,” he said.
According to Muhani, TIW intended to sacrifice for a mosque in Sleman, so the cow was donated to the mosque closest to senior politician Amien Rais.
“It is very close to Mr Amien Rais’s house; in fact, he was one of the founders of this mosque,” Muhani added.
