Covered in Volcanic Ash, Mayor of Bandar Lampung Deploys Fleet to Spray Protocol Roads

The Bandar Lampung City Government is conducting water spraying across several major protocol roads that have been covered in volcanic ash due to the continuous eruptions of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) since Saturday (5/9).

“We have ordered the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) together with the Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) to carry out water spraying on several sections of protocol roads,” said the Mayor of Bandar Lampung, Eva Dwiana, in Bandar Lampung on Sunday (6/9/2026), as quoted by Antara.

Eva stated that the spraying is being performed to dampen the volcanic dust adhering to the road surfaces, which is considered a disturbance to road users.

“It is hoped that through this spraying, the airborne volcanic dust from GAK can be reduced, minimising the disturbance to the community and road users,” she said. Additionally, Eva has urged officials in every sub-district to conduct data collection of the areas affected by the volcanic ash.

“Data collection is being carried out to determine the distribution of the affected areas and to serve as a basis for the government in determining further handling measures,” she added.
