The Corruption Court Panel at the Central Jakarta District Court has sentenced two defendants in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) corruption case. The panel imposed a prison sentence of 4 years and 6 months on former Director of Gas at PT Pertamina (Persero), Hari Karyuliarto. This verdict was determined after the defendant was found to have legally and convincingly committed the criminal act of corruption in the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Citing detikcom on Monday (4/5/2026), Chief Justice Suwandi read out the verdict, emphasising that the defendant had jointly and continuously abused authority. The judge also required Hari to pay a fine of Rp 200 million as part of the legal sanctions for his actions. “Imposing a prison sentence on Defendant I Hari Karyuliarto of 4 years and 6 months,” stated the judge while reading the verdict, quoted from detikcom on Monday (4/5/2026). In the same trial, the panel assessed that Hari’s actions, together with those of former VP of Strategic Planning Business Development in Pertamina’s Gas Directorate, Yenni Andayani, had caused losses to the state finances amounting to US$113,839,186.60. Yenni was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million, subsidiary 80 days of imprisonment. “Declaring Defendant I Hari Karyuliarto and Defendant II Yenni Andayani to have been legally and convincingly proven guilty of jointly and continuously committing the criminal act of corruption as charged in the second indictment of the Public Prosecutor,” said Suwandi. The aggravating factors in the verdict were the actions of the two defendants, which were deemed not to support the government’s programme in eradicating corruption. The mitigating factors were the conditions of the two defendants, who are over 60 years old and have no prior convictions. The judge stated that Hari Karyuliarto and Yenni Andayani were guilty of violating Article 3 in conjunction with the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code as per the second charge.
