The South Jakarta District Court has rejected a pre-trial motion filed by telematics expert Roy Suryo regarding the legality of his suspect designation by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Presiding Judge I Ketut Darpawan announced the decision on Monday, stating, “The pre-trial motion of the applicant is rejected in its entirety.”

Earlier in July, Roy had partially won a separate pre-trial motion concerning his search, arrest, and detention. The judge ruled that those coercive measures were procedurally flawed and therefore legally invalid. However, the judge emphasised that the procedural issues with the search, arrest, and detention did not automatically invalidate the entire investigation dossier. The court also rejected Roy’s request for the restoration of his dignity and reputation.

On 15 July, Roy filed another pre-trial motion, this time seeking compensation from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The case is registered under number 118/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL, with the Jakarta Police Chief and the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office named as defendants.
