A single judge at the South Jakarta District Court has rejected a pre-trial motion filed by former Religion Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas regarding his status as a suspect in a hajj quota corruption case. The Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has expressed appreciation for the court’s decision.

“I wish to convey my appreciation and respect for the court’s ruling. Of course, we respect the decision made by the court,” said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Asep stated that the KPK can now proceed with the hajj quota corruption investigation to the next stage following the pre-trial ruling. The KPK will also summon Yaqut in the near future for questioning as a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case.

“Currently, his status is indeed as a suspect. He is being summoned. This week,” he said.

When asked whether the KPK would detain Yaqut, Asep said the commission would assess future developments. “If the considerations are appropriate, we will certainly detain him without delay. It is not due to any problems—there are no problems. We will see how the process unfolds,” he said.

The single judge presiding over the pre-trial motion, Sulistyo Muhamad Dwi Putro, delivered the court’s decision at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. In his ruling, Judge Sulistyo rejected Yaqut’s pre-trial motion in its entirety, confirming that Yaqut’s status as a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case remains valid.
