Court Officially Hands Over Hotel Sultan Land to Government
The Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) has officially handed over the land of the former Hotel Sultan in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Central Jakarta, to the government. The handover was recorded in a minutes of execution (BAP) read out by PN Jakpus registrar Ahyar Parmika. The execution minutes were signed by the relevant parties, including the applicant, but were not signed by the respondent, PT Indobuildco, or its legal representative.
“Handing over to the execution applicant to be controlled by the execution applicant the said plots of land and buildings,” Ahyar told reporters on Thursday (18/6). The land surrendered includes the former HGB 26/Gelora plot covering 53,709 square metres and the former HGB 27/Gelora plot covering 83,666 square metres. It also includes 15 buildings comprising the Main Tower, Garden Tower, Lagoon Tower, Apartment Tower 1, Apartment Tower 2, Golden Ballroom, Kudus Hall, Nippon Resto, Homestay, Lagoon Garden, Qi Lounge, Tennis Court, Libra Garden, Fitness Centre and Coffee Shop.
Ahyar stated that during the execution process, an inventory of items inside the buildings was also carried out. “Subsequently, handing over to the Execution Applicant to take control of the said plots of land and buildings,” he said. Ahyar conveyed that the belongings will be moved and stored in several warehouses located in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. “For the items placed in the warehouse, the Execution Respondent is given the opportunity to collect the Execution Respondent’s belongings within a period of 6 months from the day and date this Minutes is made and signed, in coordination with the Execution Applicant or its proxy,” he stated.
The execution process for the Hotel Sultan land was marred by disturbances. A crowd opposing the execution threw stones and mineral water bottles at officers. Officers responded by spraying the crowd with water cannons. As a result of the clashes, police arrested 119 individuals. Police confirmed that the dozens of people arrested were not Hotel Sultan employees. Additionally, 29 people were reported injured due to the unrest, including police personnel, military personnel and civilians.
