Court Accepts Exception, Doctor Tifa's Case Over Jokowi's Diploma Dropped

The case concerning allegations that the diploma of Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo, was fake, with the defendant Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, will not proceed to the stage of examining witnesses.

This follows the decision by the panel of judges at the East Jakarta District Court to uphold the objection filed by Tifa’s legal team.

“Ruling: the objection filed by the defendant’s team of advocates is accepted,” said presiding judge Christina Endarwati as she read out the interim verdict at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday (23 July).

The judge declared that the public prosecutor’s indictment in case number 301/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Jkt.Tim, filed against defendant Tifauziah Tyassuma, was vague — or ‘obscuur libel’ — and therefore legally null and void.

“Ordering the return of this case file to the public prosecutor,” the judge said.

“The costs of the case shall be borne by the state,” she continued.

The case was examined and tried by a panel led by presiding judge Christina Endarwati, with member judges Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina.

Previously, prosecutors had charged Tifa with defamation and slander against Jokowi as the seventh President of Indonesia over the fake diploma allegations.

The indictment was read out on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

In this case, Tifa’s colleague, KMRT Roy Suryo, is also being prosecuted. However, his case is still at the pre-trial stage and has not yet reached the main trial.

Tifa’s response

Tifa welcomed the interim verdict.

She viewed the judges’ interim ruling as inseparable from her own and her colleagues’ efforts to fight for justice and uphold the truth.

“Therefore, we express our deep gratitude for everything that has been done so that justice and truth can stand firm in this country,” Tifa said at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday (23 July).

“And beyond that, all of this is the will of Allah SWT,” she continued.

Tifa asserted that the judges’ interim ruling had further strengthened her determination to fight for the truth, particularly regarding an issue she believes has become a burden for the entire Indonesian nation — namely the authentication of Jokowi’s diploma.

“So that what? So that in the future we need not face this issue again with subsequent presidents and officials,” she said.
