Court 11,000 rebuked for absenteeism
DENPASAR, Bali: A court on Friday rejected a lawsuit
contesting the arrest of one of the suspects in the Oct.12
bombing attacks in Bali.
Qadhar Faisal, a lawyer for Maskur bin Abdul Kadir, said the
court ruled that his client's arrest was legitimate.
Maskur is accused of finding a house to rent for prime suspect
Imam Samudra, the alleged field coordinator of the attack. He is
one of 15 suspects detained over the Bali bombings so far.
Maskur's lawyer argued that his client had been wrongfully
arrested, saying he found the house for another man and not for
Samudra.
"It is clear that the court's decision was made due to threat
and pressure from certain groups," Faisal said, noting that his
colleagues had been attacked twice by angry Balinese during
hearing sessions earlier this week.
He told AFP that his team would lodge an appeal to the
Indonesian Supreme Court.
The bombs which ripped trough Bali's Kuta nightclub strip on
October 12 killed more than 190 people, mostly foreign tourists.
