Courier’s motorbike parking blocks the sidewalk in Duren Sawit; owner promises to find a new parking space

JAKARTA — The head of the Implementation Task Force (Kasatpel) of Satpol PP in Malaka Jaya urban village, Tanjani, said the owner of a business that blocked pedestrian access with motorbike parking is currently searching for a new parking location in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. ‘The building owner should provide parking space, and according to the owner, they will look for parking space in the near future,’ Tanjani told reporters on Wednesday (4 March 2026). Tanjani said the authorities had taken action, including an Operation to Remove Tyre Valves (Operasi Cabut Pentil, OCP) on vehicles parked on the sidewalk and had issued warnings to the operator. ‘Yes, this is part of what went viral as well. We have taken action,’ he said. ‘Indeed we admit it, because parking is limited and it gets busy in the evenings, they are currently looking for a parking area,’ he added. Previously, motorbike parking that blocked the sidewalk on Jalan Haji Miran in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, went viral on social media. Several two-wheelers were seen obstructing pedestrian access and triggering residents’ complaints. In a video posted by the Instagram account @jakarta.terkini, a row of motorbikes was parked on the sidewalk. Additionally, a truck suspected of unloading was seen blocking the pedestrian path in the area. According to Kompas.com’s observations at the site, the vehicles that had previously parked in front of the shop used for Astro’s online shopping service are no longer blocking the sidewalk. The enforcement was carried out by a joint team from the Suku Dinas Bina Marga and Satpol PP of Malaka Jaya. During the operation, officers deflated the tyres of several motorcycles found parked on the sidewalk and issued warnings to the operator.
