Couple robbed of Rp 9.2 million
JAKARTA (JP): Five men armed with knives stole Rp 9.2 million in cash and jewelry from a couple in West Jakarta Sunday afternoon.
The left tire of the couple's sedan deflated en route to Jl. Bandengan Utara. While a man at a service shop helped them fix the tire the five assailants approached the couple.
Victims So Soen Lay, 42, and his wife Lusi Zen, 33, told the Tambora district police that the robbers ordered the couple to get into the car and threatened to kill them if they resisted.
So and Lusi surrendered all their belongings: a Rp 4 million gold ring, Rp 3 million in cash, a necklace, and a wrist watch.
Lusi speculated the tire had been deflated by the men as she recognized one of them at the Jembatan Tiga junction.
"I recognized the one dressed in a blue short-sleeved shirt, Lusi said. (11)
