The Sikka Police have named a husband and wife, with the initials YCG and MAR, as suspects in a human trafficking case involving 13 women from West Java.

“During the case review, investigators named two individuals as suspects, namely YCG and MAR,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Sikka Police, Ipda Leonardus Tunga, when confirmed by detikBali, Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Leonardus said the case review for the determination of suspects in the alleged human trafficking case was based on the results of an investigation into activities at the Eltras Cafe, Bar and Karaoke, which allegedly involved the exploitation of 13 victims.

The case review was led directly by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, IPTU Dionisius Siga, and was attended by internal officials of the Sikka Police and representatives from the Directorate of Special Crimes Against Women and Children (Ditres PPA PPO) of the NTT Police, which was held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Sikka Police, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

“This firm action is a real manifestation of the seriousness of the National Police in providing protection to the community, especially against exploitative practices that harm and violate human rights. The process of handling the case is carried out professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legal provisions, as a form of the National Police’s commitment to taking firm action against every form of human trafficking,” said Leonardus.

The Chief of the Sikka Police, AKBP Bambang Supeno, said that the determination of the suspects was carried out after investigators obtained more than two valid pieces of evidence as stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). The evidence fulfilled the elements of the alleged human trafficking crime in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations.

“The process of determining the suspects was carried out through an objective and professional internal case review mechanism. Furthermore, investigators will complete the administrative procedures for the determination of suspects, send summons to the suspects, carry out examinations of the suspects, and prepare and complete the case files and send the case files to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings,” said Bambang Supeno.

Bambang Supeno said that investigators would also seize other evidence that was related to the alleged crime. He affirmed his commitment to handling this case professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

“The public is urged not to be provoked by unverified information and to trust the law enforcement process to the law enforcement officers,” he concluded.
