Couple burned alive in bathroom

TANGERANG: A young couple who planned to get married soon
after the Idul Fitri celebration died tragically after fire swept
through the bathroom of a house on Jl. Pulosari I in Cibodas
district, Tangerang, on Sunday evening.

The victims were identified as Dini Damayanti, 23, an employee
at Lippo Karawaci Supermall and Trifinus Freddy, 24, a final-
semester computing student from Budiluhur University, Cileduk,
Tangerang.

The incident occurred in the bathroom of a house belonging to
Dini's parents while both victims cleaned the fuel tank of a
motorcycle they had just used. Freddy was discovered still
holding the fuel tank while Dini held the bathroom door handle.

Agustin, Dini's mother, who was still in shock, said on Monday
that Dini and Trifinus, who had been lovers for the last two
years, had gone out on a motorcycle belonging to Dini's elder
brother.

After they returned home at 7 p.m., they tried to clean the
motorcycle's fuel tank in the bathroom.

The mother had warned them that heat from the kitchen might
ignite the gasoline in the fuel tank. She had barely finished
speaking when fire suddenly engulfed the bathroom and burned her
daughter and future son-in-law alive, along with the
motorcycle.--JP
