JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police have arrested a married couple who own the Marwah Wedding Organiser (WO), suspected of defrauding dozens of prospective brides. The suspects, identified as ER and RMS, were apprehended in West Bandung Regency, West Java.

The arrest took place at a rented house in Batulayang Village, Cililin District.

“The two suspects were apprehended by the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Mobile Brigade (Resmob) Operational Task Force of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Sat Reskrim) at a rented house located in Batulayang Village, Cililin District, West Bandung Regency, West Java,” said East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Officer Aipda I Gusti MP when confirmed by Kompas.com on Sunday (31 May 2026).

“The suspects were found to have moved from their usual address and relocated multiple times before being apprehended in West Bandung Regency,” he added.

Following their arrest, both were taken to East Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further questioning. Police have officially named ER and RMS as suspects.

“Based on the investigation, both have been formally named as suspects,” he added.

They are charged under Article 492 of the Indonesian Criminal Code for fraudulent acts and/or Article 486 for embezzlement.

The case came to light after several prospective brides reported losses due to Marwah WO’s failure to fulfil contractual services. Victims stated they had paid wedding fees but the ceremonies were never held.

Police are continuing to investigate the case to uncover the modus operandi and ensure all victims are accounted for, with legal proceedings progressing to completion.
