Country of paradoxes
Country of paradoxes
From Koran Tempo
Indonesia is a country of paradoxes: While it is rich in natural resources, its people remain poor; while officials are highly educated, the nation's human resources' capability is the lowest in Asia.
Belief in Almighty God is the principle of our constitution, but the country is one of the world's most corrupt states. Officials seek luxury cars while children cannot afford to go to school.
Jakarta is among Asia's most glittering cities, yet villagers have been buried in a dump slide. With its fertile soil, Indonesia still has to import sugar and other agricultural products from less fertile countries. I could go on.
