Countries Urge Citizens to Leave Iran Immediately
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN – Several countries have asked their citizens to leave Iran and have begun withdrawing diplomatic staff and non-essential personnel from several locations in the Middle East. They have also advised their citizens to postpone travel to the region, in anticipation of a potential US attack on Tehran.
The warnings continue to emerge as attention turns to Geneva on Thursday (26/2/2026), where the third round of talks between Washington and Tehran to discuss the nuclear deal will be held.
This new round of negotiations comes after US President Donald Trump accused Tehran in a hearing before Congress on Wednesday morning of seeking to possess nuclear weapons. He also accused Iran of developing ballistic missiles capable of reaching the United States.
Trump said he would not allow the world’s largest supporter of terrorism to possess nuclear weapons, while Tehran reaffirmed its right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
This is happening in conjunction with the deployment of a large number of US military forces in the Gulf region and the Middle East, as well as repeated threats to launch a military attack on Iran if diplomatic efforts fail.
In this situation, a number of countries have issued announcements regarding their citizens in the region, including:
