Countering Hoaxes and Hate Speech Against the Government
Amid the government’s efforts to accelerate national economic transformation towards a more independent, productive, and competitive Indonesia, the Central Leadership of the Indonesian Raya Christian Movement (GEKIRA) held its 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Novotel Pulomas Hotel, Jakarta, on 12–13 June 2026. Carrying the theme ‘National Economic Transformation under the Leadership of President Prabowo Subianto’, the Rakernas served as a consolidation forum for GEKIRA cadres from across Indonesia to discuss various strategic agendas supporting President Prabowo’s government programmes. The Rakernas was opened by the Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Advisory Board and Chairman of the PP GEKIRA Advisory Board, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. In his remarks, Hashim assessed that the GEKIRA Rakernas demonstrated the growing maturity of the Gerindra Party’s wing organisation in safeguarding the national development agenda. ‘I think as a party wing organ, what is being done by colleagues at GEKIRA is very positive. This activity is a sign that GEKIRA continues to grow and work in supporting the vision of the Gerindra Party and President Prabowo Subianto,’ said Hashim. He also reminded all cadres to actively fight the spread of hoaxes and hate speech that could potentially disrupt public trust in government programmes. According to Hashim, party cadres must not be mere spectators but must be at the forefront of conveying correct information to the public. The General Chairman of PP GEKIRA, Nikson Silalahi, said this year’s Rakernas was focused on formulating the organisation’s priority programmes aligned with the national development agenda. ‘President Prabowo’s grand vision is to bring prosperity to all Indonesian people through equitable economic transformation. Therefore, GEKIRA must be present as a strategic partner of the government in conveying these programmes to the public,’ said Nikson. He explained that over the past year, GEKIRA has carried out various social and community activities, ranging from a million tree planting programme, assistance for disaster victims, distribution of social aid during Eid al-Fitr and Easter, to the organisation of the National Christmas celebration in Sorong. Going forward, Nikson said, GEKIRA cadres throughout Indonesia will be more active in engaging with the community to ensure government programmes are fully understood and not distorted by misleading information. The GEKIRA Rakernas was attended by delegates from 38 provinces and featured several ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet to provide direct perspectives on the direction of national economic development.
