Councilor sacked over scandal

SEMARANG: A member of the Semarang City Council has been
removed by the United Development Party (PPP) faction because of
an alleged sex scandal involving him and his domestic servant

The PPP faction has announced that Idham Cholid will fill the
seat vacated by the councilor, identified by Antara only by his
initials BM.

Faction chairman Makmun Banaji said Idham would be installed
into the council in a ceremony on March 27 and would be assigned
to Commission B which deals with economic affairs.

The decision to fire BM was supported by the chairman of the
Central Java chapter of PPP, Ahmad Karmani, who said that it was
necessary to maintain the integrity and image of the party. (emb)
