Councillors sent to hotel

BANDUNG: About 100 newly elected West Java councillors will be sent to a hotel in Bandung the day before they are inaugurated -- to make sure they show up for the ceremony on time.

Edi S. Holil, the spokesman of West Java provincial council, said the council secretariat would spend about Rp 75 million (US$7,978) on one night's accommodation for the councillors, who won seats in the April 5 legislative election.

The measure was taken to prevent the councillors from being late for the event on Monday, Edi said. -- JP
