Councillors cancel foreign trip

PADANG, West Sumatra: Nearly 40 West Sumatra councillors planning to travel abroad have had their plans canceled by President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

However, 15 other councillors, also banned by presidential instruction, have already completed their trips at a cost of Rp 14 million per person.

Andalas University state administration law lecturer Elwi Dahnil said those councillors should return the public's money, be interviewed by the related authorities and be brought to justice. --JP
