Council to quiz poll body supervisor

JAKARTA: City Council's Commission A on legal and administrative affairs is set to question the City National Unity Agency (Kesbang) on Monday over the possible misuse of election funds by the Jakarta Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu).

"We have assigned our commission members to examine the financial report for irregularities in preparation for the Monday meeting with Kesbang," said commission chairman Achmad Suaidy.

Panwaslu claimed it had submitted its financial report on the use of about Rp 20.6 billion (US$2,18 million) from the city budget to Kesbang, the City Audit Agency and the city secretary before its closure in November last year.

However, Kesbang head Syahrul Effendi denied earlier this week that the report had been received. --JP.
