We will not find a robust society without strong families. Family resilience is the first line of defence against various social crises.

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Council of Islamic Scholars (Majelis Hukama Muslimin, MHM) has affirmed that family resilience represents the primary foundation in constructing a robust and sustainable civilisation.

“We will not find a robust society without strong families. Family resilience is the first line of defence against various social crises. From harmonious households emerge moderate, tolerant, and principled generations,” said Muchlis M. Hanafi, Executive Director of the MHM Indonesia Branch Office, during a Ramadan Reflection forum in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, the family is not merely a private institution but a strategic institution that determines the direction of society’s and the nation’s future.

He assessed that the Ramadan momentum presents a space for spiritual renewal that is relevant to strengthening the foundation of the family. Fasting, he said, trains self-control; tarawih prayers foster togetherness; and charitable giving strengthens social solidarity.

“The values of Ramadan ought to live and take root within families. Ramadan is not merely a moment of individual worship, but also an opportune time to strengthen relationships within families,” said the Director of Islamic Religious Communication at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).

The family, he said, is regarded as the first space for character education and the nursery of peaceful values. Therefore, the MHM remains committed to continuously promoting programmes that place the family at the centre of social transformation and the strengthening of human harmony.

This Ramadan Reflection, according to Muchlis, represents an initial step in consolidating ideas to make family resilience a strategic agenda in constructing a peaceful and civilised civilisation.
