Council agreement sought

Council agreement sought

JAKARTA (JP): The postponed reclamation of the Mutiara coast, in northern Jakarta, will resume only if the City Council approves, the developer said yesterday.

According to the developer, PT Harapan Indah, the city administration has ordered it to delay the project, which started last December, following complaints from the Muara Karang steam- power electricity plant.

The City Council agreed to the delay.

The postponement has, apparently, triggered complaints from the land buyers. They accuse the developer of cheating them.

The buyers planned to sue PT Harapan Indah for not giving them the land, for which they have paid.

"We have spent hundreds of millions of rupiah for the land, and the developer is not keeping its word," Budiarto, one of the buyers, said. (03)
