Cost of electricity installation

From Neraca

Some time ago I went to the office of state electricity company PLN in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, as I wanted to have electricity installed in my house in South Utan Kayu village, Matraman subdistrict, East Jakarta.

The officer in charge told me that I had to go to the PLN office in Rawamangun and to bring along a completed registration form, a copy of my identification card, the electricity bills of my next door neighbor, the ground plan of the house and the layout for the wiring.

What I'm curious about is how much do I have to spend to have a connection of 1,300 watts or 900 watts? The lady in charge at the PLN office in Jatinegara said the registration fee for 1,300 watts was Rp 275,000 plus Rp 100,000 for the map, which, she said, must be drawn by only PLN officers.

In my case, the wiring will be installed by my neighbor, a non-PLN electrician. Is it possible to have the layout for the wiring drawn up by my neighbor? If the answer is in the affirmative, do I still have to pay any extra fees? Also, are there any other additional fees which I have to pay?

I hope PLN can provide me with the information I need. By having this information, a consumer can avoid falling victim to the games played by some delinquent PLN officers.
