The National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) officially granted an operational licence to the Permanent Makeup Indonesia Professional Certification Institute (LSP) on Thursday, 10 July 2026. This step makes the institute the first and only party with state authority to manage competency standards and issue professional certifications in the field of cosmetic embroidery, or permanent makeup, in Indonesia. BNSP certification for this field is now formally regulated under the legal umbrella of the Permanent Makeup Indonesia Association (PPMU Indonesia). The field has gained strong legality with the issuance of Special Work Competency Standard (SKKK) Number 28 of 2026 by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) of the Republic of Indonesia. Through this regulation, embroidery practitioners—whether for eyebrows, lips, or eyeliner—can take an official state competency test to obtain a BNSP-licensed certificate. Based on an official document numbered BNSP-LSP-2795-ID, this licence is valid for five years until 10 July 2031. The determination confirms that the institute has met all requirements of the professional certification system in accordance with BNSP guidelines 201 of 2014, BNSP 202 of 2014, and BNSP 210 of 2017. During the signing of the document, BNSP Chairman Syamsi Hari stated that this recognition is an important step to guarantee service quality and legal certainty for workers in the beauty industry, which has grown rapidly in recent years. ‘We want the public to receive services from personnel who are truly competent and tested. On the other hand, business actors also need a clear, state-recognised reference so that this industry develops in a healthy and orderly manner,’ Syamsi said in Jakarta last Thursday. Previously, the Permanent Makeup Indonesia Association had received the SKKK determination numbered 2.2/3281/LP.00.00/V/2026 from the Ministry of Manpower. The combination of these two legal foundations gives the institute full authority to conduct competency tests and issue nationally valid certificates. Chairman of LSP Permanent Makeup Indonesia, Ali Tatto Sulam, welcomed this achievement as proof of state recognition of the importance of standards in the profession. ‘Our long struggle has finally borne fruit. This licence is not just recognition for the institute, but an important milestone that elevates the dignity of the cosmetic embroidery practitioner profession in the eyes of the state and the wider community. We are committed to carrying out this mandate professionally, transparently, and with high integrity,’ Ali stated.
