Cosmetic products seized in Pekanbaru

PEKANBARU, Riau: Officials from the Pekanbaru Food and Drug Monitoring Agency have confiscated from stores here thousands of cosmetic products manufactured in China and Taiwan.

"We seized the products because they were illegal. The products were never registered with the health ministry and we even found some samples containing mercury, which is dangerous for humans," said Maringan Silitonga, the head of the agency, on Wednesday. -- JP
