Corruptors should be named and shamed

Corruptors should be named and shamed

From Rakyat Merdeka

I was interested to read a news story about the Ciganjur
cabinet, which was written by Adhie Massardhi, a former spokesman
for then president Abdurrahman Wahid, or Gus Dur as he is
familiarly known, which appeared in the Rakyat Merdeka daily
published on April 15, 2002.

He wrote that "We cannot deny that, as the most corrupt
country in the world, we certainly have millions of corruptors.
Try to count the number of corrupt officials at the central and
regional levels in addition to corrupt entrepreneurs. Corruption
has become part of the culture of this country."

With regard to his article, I would like to ask whether Adhie
Massardhi can prove his statements. If so, why is such a
situation left unattended. As a citizen as well as a former
presidential spokesman, he should write down the facts and
produce his evidence.

As a reader of Rakyat Merdeka, I have never read that hundreds
or thousands or even millions of corruptors have been arrested.
Perhaps some are being dealt with by law enforcers. If there are
millions of corruptors, why are they allowed to enjoy the fruits
of their corruption?

It would be better if the names of corruptors were made
public.
