Corruption Suspect Siman Bahar Dies in China, KPK Prepares SP3
The President Director of PT Loco Montrado, Siman Bahar alias Bong Kin Phin, a suspect in the alleged corruption case regarding metal anode processing cooperation, has passed away in China.
“Regarding Siman Bahar, we must first confirm, as we are trying to update why he went to China, but the information about his death can be confirmed as of today; we just need the administration,” said Acting Director of KPK Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Monday night (13/4).
Taufik stated that the KPK will issue a Termination of Investigation Order (SP3) for Siman Bahar’s case.
“Of course, for the sake of the law, if the suspect has died, an SP3 is certain, but we need the administration, which we are currently checking,” he said.
The KPK re-announced Siman Bahar as a suspect on Monday, 5 June 2023. In the first suspect determination, Siman Bahar had defeated the KPK through a pre-trial hearing.
During the investigation process, Siman Bahar was not detained due to health reasons. The individual was suffering from a serious illness.
Nevertheless, to recover state losses in this case, the KPK has designated Siman Bahar’s company as a corporate suspect.
