Corruption Investigation Commission Probes Fund Flow in Hajj Quota Case

JAKARTA – The Corruption Investigation Commission (KPK) is deepening its investigation into the flow of funds in the alleged corruption case involving hajj quotas from 2023–2024, which has ensnared former Religion Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Prosecution and Execution at the KPK, stated that investigators are continuing to trace where all the money received by the suspect was directed.

Asep explained that based on preliminary information obtained by investigators, some of the funds were used by the suspect for personal purposes.

“So far it has been used for personal purposes,” Asep said during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

“In addition to personal purposes, there were also attempts to provide something to the special parliamentary committee, but it was rejected,” he said.

Nevertheless, the KPK confirmed that the investigation process is continuing and investigators will continue to examine where the funds were used in the case.

“We will certainly investigate where all the funds used by the person in question in this case were directed,” said Asep.

The KPK has seized assets worth more than 100 billion rupiah. Asep explained that the seized assets consist of money in various currencies, namely 3.7 million US dollars, 22 billion rupiah, and 16,000 Saudi riyals.

In addition, investigators also seized four vehicles and five plots of land and buildings that are suspected to be related to the corruption offence.
