The KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) has summoned former Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi (BKS), once again. Budi is being called as a witness in the alleged corruption case involving railway projects at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) in East Java (Jatim).

“In the bribery case related to projects at the DJKA, investigators had previously scheduled an examination of witness BKS in his capacity as Minister of Transportation at the time, overseeing the DJKA,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Wednesday (25 February 2026).

He stated that Budi Karya had requested a rescheduling. He added that Budi Karya’s testimony is needed.

“We are still awaiting confirmation, as every statement from a witness is needed in uncovering the case,” he said.

This alleged corruption case involving railway projects at the DJKA of the Ministry of Transportation is divided into several regions, one of which is in East Java. The KPK has named several suspects in this DJKA corruption case.

Most recently, the KPK named the inactive Regent of Pati, Sudewo, as a suspect. The KPK stated that Sudewo was named a suspect in his capacity as a former member of Commission V of the DPR RI (House of Representatives).

“Mr. SDW, in the context of the DJKA case at the Ministry of Transportation, is not being considered in the context of being the Regent of Pati, but rather in the context of being a member of Commission V of the DPR RI, which has a partnership with the Ministry of Transportation,” said Budi at the KPK building, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (22 January).
