Corruption Eradication Commission examines 14 witnesses in Sudewo extortion case regarding money transfer through coordinator
Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission examined 14 witnesses in an alleged extortion case involving suspended Pati Regent Sudewo to investigate the transfer of money via or through a village head coordinator.
“The witnesses were questioned regarding money transfers on orders from the Regent (Sudewo) through the village head coordinator,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Friday.
Additionally, the witnesses were also examined to explain to the KPK the process and mechanism for appointing village officials for 2026 in Pati Regency, Central Java.
The witnesses comprised UNM as candidate village secretary of Gadu Village, SR as candidate head of administration section of Gadu Village, KUN as candidate head of planning section of Gadu Village, AF as candidate head of finance affairs of Perdopo Village, and SEW as candidate head of planning section of Perdopo Village.
Other witnesses included ISM as village head of Purworejo, SUG as village head of Tambakharjo, AU as village head of Sumbersari, WI as village head of Sekarjalak, MZ as village head of Wonosekar, SUK as village head of Sumberagung, KUS as village head of Sumbersari, SUG as village head of Banyuurip, and EK as head of village services section of Sumberejo.
They were examined by the KPK at Semarang Metropolitan Police headquarters, Central Java, on 26 February 2026.
Previously, on 19 January 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation against Sudewo in Pati Regency, Central Java.
Subsequently on 20 January 2026, the KPK brought Sudewo and seven others to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta.
On the same date, the KPK announced four suspects in an alleged corruption case related to extortion in the appointment of village officials within the Pati Regency Government. They were Sudewo (SDW); village head of Karangrowo, Jakenan District, Abdul Suyono (YON); village head of Arumanis, Jaken District, Sumarjiono (JION); and village head of Sukorukun, Jaken District, Karjan (JAN).
Additionally, the KPK named Sudewo as a suspect in an alleged bribery case concerning the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation.
