Corruption Convict Who Visited Coffee Shop After Hearing Transferred to Nusakambangan
Jakarta, VIVA – Corruption convict Supriadi has been transferred to Nusakambangan Prison from the Class II A Detention Centre in Kendari. The transfer was carried out because Supriadi went viral after being caught going to a coffee shop following his Peninjauan Kembali (PK) hearing at the court.
“The relevant inmate has been transferred to the maximum-security Nusakambangan Prison,” said Head of the Subdirectorate for Community Partnership, Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, in her statement on Friday, 17 April 2026.
Meanwhile, the escorting officers for Supriadi have been examined. This includes two related structural officials and the Head of the Detention Centre, who have been reassigned.
“They have also been reassigned to the Directorate General of Corrections for examination by the Internal Compliance Operational Unit of the Directorate General of Corrections,” she explained.
Previously, the Head of the Class IIA Kendari State Detention Centre, Rikie Umbaran, issued an apology and clarification regarding the viral video showing an inmate at a coffee shop in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
Rikie admitted to a violation of standard operating procedures (SOP) by the officer with initials Y who escorted the corruption convict Supriadi during his attendance at the PK hearing at the court.
He explained that, according to procedure, the inmate should have been immediately returned to the detention centre after the hearing. However, in this case, the inmate was allowed a brief stop at the coffee shop.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident,” said Rikie.
Inmate Supriadi is a convict in a corruption case in the mining sector while serving as Head of the Class III Port Authority Office in Kolaka and has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
