Corruption Convict Caught Hanging Out in Kendari Café, Prison Officers Under Investigation

The Directorate General of Corrections is investigating prison officers and corruption convict Supriadi, who was caught hanging out at a coffee shop in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. “Regarding the incident, an examination is being conducted by a joint team from the Internal Compliance Operational Unit (Sat Ops Patnal) of the Directorate General of Corrections and the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections for Southeast Sulawesi, involving all relevant parties, both the inmates and the officers,” stated Rika Aprianti, Head of the Sub-Directorate for Cooperation and Public Services at the Directorate General of Corrections, in a written statement on Wednesday (15/4). If violations are proven, sanctions will be imposed on both the officers and the inmates. “In line with the Minister’s instructions, the examination will cover from the Head of the Prison, the Head of Prison Security, to the escorting officers involved in the incident,” Rika said. “And if violations are proven, action will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations, up to dismissal from position,” she added. Supriadi, the former Head of the Harbourmaster in Kolaka, and officers from Kendari Detention Centre were caught at the coffee shop after attending a Case Review (PK) hearing at the Kendari District Court on Tuesday (14/4). The incident was recorded in a video that went viral on social media.
