The Corruption Commission (KPK) conducted raids related to the extortion case involving inactive Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL). The KPK discovered evidence of forced collection of holiday allowances.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the raids were carried out on Monday, 16 March 2026. The raids were conducted at the Official Residence and Office of the Cilacap Regent, the Office of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Cilacap, and the Offices of Assistants 1, 2, and 3 to the Cilacap Regent.

“Today investigators conducted a series of raids, including at the official residence and regent’s office, the regional secretary’s office, as well as the offices of assistants 1, 2, and 3,” Budi told journalists on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Budi stated that investigators seized a number of pieces of evidence. One of them was evidence of conversations or chat messages regarding the collection of funds from heads of regional government agencies (SKPD) to their respective division heads for the holiday allowances that the Regent demanded. Budi said investigators would conduct further analysis of the seized evidence.

“During the raids, investigators secured and seized a number of documents and several pieces of electronic evidence, including mobile phones containing chat messages related to the collection of funds from heads of SKPD to their respective division heads,” Budi explained.

Previously, the KPK designated Syamsul and Cilacap Regency Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono (SAD) as suspects in the alleged extortion case. Both were charged under Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.

They are alleged to have forced officials from the Cilacap Regional Government to remit money for holiday allowances ahead of Eid. The KPK seized Rp 610 million during an operation against Syamsul and others.
