Corruption Case in Crude Oil Management: Hasto and Toto Sentenced to 5 Years
JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced former Senior Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain (SVP ISC) at PT Pertamina, Hasto Wibowo, and Toto Nugroho to five years in prison in the alleged corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina (Persero) on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Presiding Judge Adek Nurhadi stated that both defendants were proven guilty of committing the criminal act of corruption jointly, as charged by the public prosecutor.
“Therefore, the Court sentences the Defendants to imprisonment of five years each and a fine of Rp 1,000,000,000, which must be paid within one month and may be extended for a maximum of one month from the date the decision gains legal force,” the judge said.
“It is further ordered that if the fine is not paid within the specified time, the Defendants’ assets may be seized and auctioned to cover the unpaid fine,” the judge continued.
If the proceeds from the seizure and auction of assets are insufficient to pay the fine, it will be replaced with imprisonment of 150 days.
“In the event that the proceeds from the seizure and auction of assets or income obtained do not allow for the execution of the unpaid fine, it shall be replaced with imprisonment of 150 days each,” the judge stated.
Previously, both defendants were charged with a potential prison term of 10 years by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
“(We request that the panel of judges) sentence the defendants Toto Nugroho, Hasto Wibowo, and Arief Sukmara to imprisonment of 10 years each,” the JPU stated during the hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
The demand for restitution arose because the defendants were deemed to have caused financial losses to the state.
“In the event that the defendants no longer have sufficient assets to pay the restitution, then for defendants Toto Nugroho, Hasto Wibowo, and Dwi Sudarsono, a sentence of seven years imprisonment each, for Arief Sukmara five years, and for Indra Putra two years and six months,” the prosecutor added.
