Corruption case handling continues after Jampidsus resignation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) Rudi Margono has assured that the handling of corruption cases at the Attorney General’s Office will continue following the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah as Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin appointed Rudi Margono as acting Jampidsus (Plt) effective Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday, Rudi said he would gather all Special Crimes (Pidsus) investigators and Secretariat officials to ensure that corruption cases continue to be handled properly.

He said law enforcement work already under way at Pidsus will carry on, including the top priority of resolving cases implicating the former Jampidsus, recently transferred by the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Task Force (Kortastipidkor).

“Primarily this case involving the former Jampidsus. Then, more importantly, asset recovery in the handling of corruption offences,” he said.

Rudi said he was only informed of his appointment as acting Jampidsus in the early hours of Saturday.

According to him, his appointment is a mandate from God, delivered through the Attorney General, to carry out managerial duties at the Jampidsus office. Rudi, who retains his position as Jamwas, is also known as an active author of books on legal literacy.

“What is clear is that we have been appointed, a mandate from God through the Attorney General, to carry out technical managerial duties at Jampidsus,” he said.
