Jakarta – The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the flow of money entering the personal account of former Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in connection with the alleged corruption case regarding the 2023-2024 hajj quota will be disclosed during court proceedings.

“Regarding how much money flows in the future, we will wait for the trial proceedings. To YCQ, yes,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

Asep stated that in corruption cases, it is not always necessary for money to flow directly into a defendant’s personal account.

According to him, the fulfilment of a suspect’s or defendant’s needs through corrupt means can still be classified as unlawful conduct.

“For example, it’s like this: I (for my own purposes) ask Mas Budi (KPK Spokesperson) to collect a sum of money. The money doesn’t reach me, but I always say, ‘Mas Budi, please ask for money from Mbak, for instance, 10 million rupiah, Mbak give it,’” he said.

Then, the 10 million rupiah given by ‘Mbak’ would be used by Budi to purchase items for Asep’s needs.

“I tell him, Mas Budi, please buy my necessities, these and those and such. Well, the money doesn’t reach me, but the instruction is my instruction, and it’s also used for my necessities,” he continued.

“Well, that must be understood as being for my necessities. Because Mas Budi, with all his authority, cannot ask Mbak Sela in his own name and use it in his own name. But he can do it because it’s in my name. And also, for the usage, it’s also me requesting it,” Asep added.
