Corrupt Garuda check-in staff
Corrupt Garuda check-in staff
From Kompas
I flew by Garuda Indonesia from Medan to Jakarta on Feb. 23, 2003. Initially I was booked for the 6 a.m. flight but changed my departure time to 10:20. I went to the airport to seek information on whether I could fly at 10:20. A check-in officer politely and officiously came up and asked for my ticket. After a while he came back, saying that the plane was fully booked. Hinting that I could get a seat if I paid some money, he promised to do his best to get me a seat.
Finally I told him I would take the 6 a.m. flight and asked him to give my ticket back. Then a female officer gave me a seat for the 10:20 flight.
After boarding, I was surprised to find that there were still vacant seats. This was my second experience. The same thing happened to me in 2002.
To minimize cheating or fraud by its employees, I appeal to the management to provide passengers with access to information on the availability of seats on board.
