A client of the Ciangir Class II Correctional Centre (Bapas) in Tangerang Regency, Banten, Bakti Kurniawan bin Edi Junaedi, has successfully become an entrepreneur by launching a local shoe brand called ARPRIZE. Bakti, who is a parolee still under supervision until 21 January 2027, developed the business under the guidance of Senior Community Counsellor Nunik Kurniani. He utilised skills acquired during the independence development programme to create casual modern shoe designs in black and white, emphasising comfort, quality materials, neat stitching, cushioned insoles, and durable soles. The products are now marketed through various online platforms, including TikTok Shop and Shopee, as well as sold directly in several outlets. Bakti expressed gratitude to Bapas Ciangir and his counsellor for the guidance that enabled his progress. He hopes to encourage the public to support local products and to give former inmates a chance to prove they can be productive and contribute positively. Head of Bapas Ciangir, Anjar Seto, praised the business’s development, noting that its success reflects the primary goal of community guidance: to return clients to society as productive and accepted individuals. He expressed hope that Bakti’s success would have a broader impact by providing job opportunities for other correctional clients. Bapas Ciangir currently supervises 1,287 clients, and this success story is intended to inspire others to become independent and build a better future. The achievement of ARPRIZE embodies the policy direction of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, which promotes impactful corrections through strengthened independence development, economic empowerment, and social reintegration.
