Corporate Transactions and Financial Reports Must Be Supported by Integrity in Valuation
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is targeting Indonesia’s economic growth in the range of 5.8–6.5 per cent in 2027. The target is part of efforts to realise a sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia, amidst global uncertainty due to war in the Middle East since early 2026.
Panca Arief Jatmika of Valuation Services BDO in Indonesia said this uncertainty triggers market dynamics and turmoil in global economic parameters, which has a direct impact on Indonesia. “As a result, management and business actors are required to determine policy direction carefully, because decisions will affect the continuity and development of the company,” Panca said in a statement on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
Panca, who is also Head of Valuation at KJPP Wawat Jatmika dan Rekan, added that in making decisions such as restructuring, expansion, divestiture, or other corporate actions, management often relies on financial reports, economic indicators, and market dynamics. Four main aspects that need attention are finance, accounting, taxation, and legal, so that corporate action plans proceed correctly.
He detailed these four aspects. The financial aspect covers analysis of transaction and funding schemes, the accounting aspect ensures recording complies with SAK, the taxation aspect identifies potential liabilities, and the legal aspect ensures compliance and completeness of documents.
Panca also emphasised that the role of the valuer is crucial to facilitate strategic actions such as mergers, acquisitions, business restructuring, and funding schemes. “The presence of a valuer helps management have a credible basis before making major decisions,” he said.
Managing Partner of KJPP Wawat Jatmika dan Rekan, Felix Ery Prasetya, stressed that independence, integrity, and objectivity are the main keys to the valuation profession. According to him, valuation is not merely a final figure, but a complex process based on a code of ethics, valuation standards, and applicable regulations.
“Service users need to understand the definition of value that aligns with the purpose and objective of the valuation. Thus, the valuation results can be used for accountable decision-making,” said Felix.
In practice, valuation in Indonesia refers to the Indonesian Valuer Code of Ethics and the Indonesian Valuation Standards issued by MAPPI. In addition, valuers must also refer to regulations such as Minister of Finance Regulations, OJK Regulations, and Financial Accounting Standards relevant to the valuation object.
