Corporate CSR and PMI Support Clean Water Distribution to Drought-Hit Temanggung

The Temanggung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Central Java is collaborating with various parties to help distribute clean water to areas hit by drought during this year’s dry season. These include the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), the Social Service through the Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), and support from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. This was conveyed by the Head of BPBD Temanggung, Totok Nursetyanto, to reporters on Tuesday (28/7).

He stated that from the Temanggung regional budget (APBD), the BPBD has prepared funding for approximately 300 tanks of clean water ready to be distributed to drought-affected areas. The BPBD has begun channelling clean water aid to communities impacted by the dry season, starting in Gentan Village, Kranggan. The initial distribution was carried out after the village government submitted a formal request for clean water assistance to the BPBD.

Totok explained that Gentan Village requested aid for five hamlets. Following administrative verification and field assessments, the BPBD determined that Gentan Hamlet and Wonogiri Hamlet were the areas most urgently requiring clean water supplies. The request for assistance arose because the discharge from water sources has continued to decline. He noted that the assessment confirmed several water sources in the area had already dried up, necessitating an immediate delivery of clean water.

Going forward, he added, the distribution of clean water will be carried out routinely in coordination with the village government. Aid will continue to be provided to communities in need of clean water.
