Corporate Blood Donation Drives Help Strengthen Blood Stock Availability
The need for blood in healthcare services persists daily. Hospitals require blood supplies to treat patients undergoing surgery, accident victims, mothers giving birth, and individuals with certain conditions requiring transfusions. Amid this need, public participation, including from the business community, is an important effort in helping to maintain blood stock availability.
A number of companies have begun making blood donation a routine agenda as a form of social responsibility while fostering a culture of care within the workplace. Besides helping to meet blood needs, this activity also opens wider opportunities for workers to contribute directly to humanitarian action.
One such initiative was carried out by PT Hankook Tire Indonesia, which again held a blood donation drive in cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Bekasi Regency at the company’s facility in Cikarang on Thursday (2/7). This programme is part of the company’s commitment to supporting public health while helping to maintain blood stock availability.
To encourage wider participation, Hankook divided the blood donation programme into three waves throughout the year. The scheme was designed so that employees with different work schedules could still participate in blood donation activities without disrupting company operations, while simultaneously fostering a sustainable culture of sharing and care.
In the second wave of the year, more than 70 employees from various divisions, ranging from production areas to operational support functions, took part in the activity. All participants first underwent health checks to ensure their condition met the requirements for donors.
Through the blood donation drives held in February and July 2026, the company has involved more than 100 participants and successfully collected 98 blood bags, which were subsequently distributed through PMI.
Each donated blood bag can potentially help up to three patients because it can be separated into various blood components according to medical needs. Thus, the dozens of blood bags collected are expected to provide benefits for more people in need of blood transfusions.
During the activity, PT Hankook Tire Indonesia President Director Jung Jinkyun donated blood alongside employees as a form of the company’s commitment to encouraging active participation in this humanitarian action.
Jung said every blood bag donated holds great meaning for those in need. Therefore, the company continues to encourage employee involvement in blood donation activities as a form of care that provides direct benefits to the community.
“We believe that every blood bag donated holds great meaning for those in need. Therefore, we continue to encourage employee participation in blood donation activities as a form of care that provides direct benefits to the community. As a global company operating in Indonesia, we are committed to continuously presenting various social initiatives that not only create a positive impact for the community but also foster a culture of sharing and care within the company environment,” Jung said.
This social commitment is also realised through various community empowerment programmes in Bekasi Regency. Since 2024, Hankook has installed 60 units of Public Street Lighting (PJU), built two borehole well locations, and since 2025 has distributed 500 sets of furniture for schools in the area.
These various initiatives received appreciation from the Bekasi Regency Government. Hankook won the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award with third place in the infrastructure category as a form of recognition for programmes deemed to have a real impact on the community.
Bekasi Regency Regional Secretary Endin Samsudin said the award was given to companies and CSR partners that present the best programmes, have a real impact, are well-targeted, and are aligned with regional development priorities.
“This award is given to companies and CSR partners that have presented the best programmes, have a real impact, are well-targeted, and are aligned with regional development priorities. I hope this award can serve as mutual motivation,” Endin said.
The series of programmes demonstrates how the business community’s contribution is realised not only through business activities but also through social initiatives that directly touch the community’s needs, ranging from support for health services to environmental preservation and the construction of public facilities around the company’s operational areas.
