Corporal Rico Pramudia, the Fourth Fallen Indonesian Soldier in Lebanon
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Corporal (Praka) Rico Pramudia, an Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldier assigned to Task Force Mechanised Battalion XXIII-S of the Garuda Contingent (Satgas Yonmek XXIII-S Konga) on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission in southern Lebanon, fell on Friday (24/4/2026). Rico passed away at 10.32 local time, or 14.32 Western Indonesia Time, after undergoing intensive treatment at St. George Hospital in Beirut. The late soldier had previously sustained severe injuries when the Indonesian contingent’s assignment post in the town of Adshit al-Qusyar in southern Lebanon was hit by an artillery attack. With Rico’s death, the total number of TNI soldiers who have died in two separate incidents in the UNIFIL mission area in southern Lebanon has risen to four. The Indonesian Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) mourns the passing of Corporal Rico Pramudia after he received medical treatment for nearly a month. “The death of Corporal Rico Pramudia while carrying out the world peacekeeping mission with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon is a profound sorrow,” as quoted from the official Instagram account of the Ministry of Defence in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA on Friday (25/4/2026). Corporal Rico was one of three TNI soldiers injured in the attack in Lebanon on 29 March 2026. Most recently, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu RI) is coordinating with UNIFIL to repatriate Corporal’s body from Lebanon.
