The Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance has addressed public complaints regarding the Coretax service, which has been criticised for not being user-friendly, particularly concerning system speed. Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto stated that his team continuously listens to feedback from taxpayers using Coretax to deposit and report their tax obligations, and improvements are being made. “Coretax is continuously being updated and improved. The case management system, which was somewhat slow and had internal problems, was resolved last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Today it is starting to function well again. Next week, the Minister (Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa) will conduct a test himself,” Bimo said after a press conference on Wednesday. Bimo added that Coretax was originally built in 2018 and required further refinement. “The user interface has also been changed to be simpler. Naturally, there will be an adjustment period, but the new user interface is much simpler and easier to understand. We hope to report more comprehensively next week,” he said. The tax office is also striving to simplify and monitor the system to ensure taxpayer comfort in fulfilling their tax obligations. As of 31 May 2026, the Directorate General of Taxes recorded that 19,502,020 taxpayers had activated their Coretax accounts, comprising 18,264,520 individual taxpayers, 1,145,478 corporate taxpayers, 91,891 government institution taxpayers, and 233 PMSE taxpayers.
