Coretax DJP: A New Step Towards Modern Tax Administration
Digital transformation has become a necessity across various sectors, including tax administration. One of the major steps taken by the Indonesian government is the introduction of Coretax DJP, a tax administration system designed to integrate all tax services into a single digital platform. The presence of this system is part of the Directorate General of Taxes’ (DJP) efforts to improve service quality, strengthen supervision, and encourage sustainable tax compliance. Before Coretax, taxpayers had to use various separate applications, such as e-Filing, e-Billing, e-Faktur, and e-Bupot. This condition often confused users because each service had different mechanisms and interfaces. With Coretax, these various services are being integrated so that the administrative process becomes simpler, more efficient, and centralised. However, every system change certainly requires an adaptation process. In the early stages of implementation, some taxpayers and tax consultants faced obstacles, such as difficulty accessing the system, changes in service flow, and the need to learn new features. These obstacles are normal in a large-scale digital transformation process. The most important thing is that the government continues to refine the system, strengthen technological infrastructure, and provide adequate assistance and education services so that users can adapt well. On the other hand, Coretax offers various long-term benefits. Data integration allows the tax reporting and payment process to become faster, more accurate, and transparent. The risk of data input errors can be minimised because tax information is stored in a single interconnected database. In addition, this system also supports data-based supervision, thereby increasing the effectiveness of state revenue management while providing better services to taxpayers. For business actors, the presence of Coretax is expected to reduce the administrative burden and increase the efficiency of managing tax obligations. Meanwhile, for the government, this system is an important foundation in realising a modern, transparent, and accountable tax administration.
