Coretax Design Flaw, Purbaya Assures System Will Continue to be Improved
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has admitted that there are errors in the Coretax tax system that have caused many taxpayers to struggle with accessing it. According to him, the problems with Coretax lie in the flawed design and software that is not yet supportive. “First, it’s a design flaw. With the new programme, why is it difficult to use? It turns out one of its weaknesses is that you know there’s a software service or application that connects Coretax with customers? It’s slower if you use that,” Purbaya explained at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Therefore, he explained that the Directorate General of Taxes will continue to make improvements to Coretax, particularly regarding the speed of data processing in the system. Not only that, Purbaya admitted that intensive socialisation and education need to be carried out for taxpayers so that they better understand the tax terms used in the Coretax system. “For the Coretax software itself, we will keep improving it; there’s a team for that here. If the complaint from taxpayers is that they can’t understand it, it’s hard to comprehend, for example, the language (of Coretax), that can’t be fixed quickly, but we will improve it again,” he said. On the other hand, Purbaya views that the current Coretax system is far better than in previous years. “But it’s not as bad as before, right? It’s already improved; we’ll keep fixing it,” he said.
