Coordinator Paid Rioters Rp 40,000 Each During Pejompongan Unrest on 27 August

Police have revealed that there were three clusters of rioters involved in the unrest in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, on 27 August. One of these clusters was coordinated by a man with the initials JT.

“We have uncovered legal facts regarding the parties providing funding and organising the mass movement as follows: several riot suspects received funding from a coordinator under the name of Mr JT,” explained the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, to journalists at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Saturday (12/9/2026).

Iman explained that JT provided a reward to the rioters he recruited amounting to Rp 40,000 per person. “With a nominal amount of Rp 40,000 per person,” Iman continued.

He further stated that JT coordinated the rioters under the orders of an individual with the initials PKL. Upon deeper investigation, investigators found that PKL was acting under the orders of someone with the initials KHT, also known as KY. From the most recent findings, a figure with the initials SO was identified as being behind this cluster.

“From JT, it was ordered by PKL, which was ordered by KHT, also known as HY, and ordered by SO,” Iman explained.

Iman emphasised that the authorities will thoroughly investigate this case to identify the intellectual leader. “We are currently conducting a deep investigation into the intellectual leader who ordered or requested the preparation of the masses and the provision of funding,” Iman added.

It is known that the unrest in Pejompongan resulted in the death of an elderly resident, Bambang Setiawan, who was assaulted by the rioters.
