The Coordination Minister for Community Empowerment (Kemenko PM) Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) officially launched the Tebar Harapan Ramadan (THR), a collaborative movement for distributing zakat fitrah to underprivileged communities across Indonesia.

Through this programme, the government working with zakat and philanthropic institutions distributes 2 million zakat fitrah packages to eligible recipients throughout Indonesia with total assistance valued at Rp441.9 billion.

Cak Imin explained that the programme forms part of efforts to strengthen national collaboration in poverty alleviation through optimising the potential of zakat and community philanthropy.

“This activity represents a major collaboration between the government, zakat institutions, and philanthropic organisations to ensure that social assistance can reach those in need more broadly and with greater precision,” said Cak Imin in his statement on Friday (13 March 2026).

He made these remarks during the Selasar Hangat (Warm Corridor) Multi-Faith Collaboration Joyful Ramadan event: Indonesia Empowered through Tebar Harapan Ramadan (THR) at Jakarta International Velodrome, Jakarta, on Thursday (12 March).

In implementing this programme, Kemenko PM orchestrated coordination among 184 Zakat Collection Organisations (LAZ) and 234 philanthropic organisations participating in the Indonesia Berdaya platform.

This collaboration represents a strategic step to strengthen coordination of zakat distribution for greater integration and direct impact on communities.

Assistance distribution focuses on eligible recipients in 168 districts across 8 provinces with the highest extreme poverty rates, including East Java, West Java, Central Java, North Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sumatra, Lampung and Banten, plus 3 disaster-affected provinces in Sumatra—Aceh and West Sumatra—as part of efforts to accelerate poverty alleviation in Indonesia.

Cak Imin hopes that the Tebar Harapan Ramadan movement will not only serve as an occasion for sharing during the holy month, but also represent a concrete step in strengthening social solidarity and community empowerment.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to ensure that zakat serves not merely as temporary assistance, but as a force to encourage communities to rise and become more empowered,” Cak Imin said.
