Coordinating Ministry Reveals MagangHub to Open in July, Targeting 150,000 Participants
Jakarta – The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs has confirmed that the government will open the fourth batch, or second year, of the national internship programme in early July 2026. Coordinating Ministry Spokesperson Haryo Limanseto stated that the MagangHub programme’s first year in 2025 was launched across three batches, with a total of 102,696 registered participants. Of these, approximately 84,750 individuals completed the full six-month internship, while the remainder withdrew for reasons including securing permanent employment or personal matters. The third batch of 2025 has just concluded, marked by a closing ceremony held by the Ministry of Manpower on Thursday, 18 June 2026.
The government will continue the national internship programme in 2026 with a target of 150,000 participants, to be recruited over three batches starting in early July. Regarding funding, Haryo explained that the total budget for the 2025 programme across the first three batches amounted to Rp2.046 trillion. For 2026, the programme is included in the second-quarter economic stimulus package, with an additional budget allocation of Rp4.14 trillion currently being processed to meet the expanded target. This brings the total programme budget to approximately Rp6 trillion for a combined total of around 250,000 participants over the two years.
Haryo assured that the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Manpower conduct regular monitoring of the programme’s implementation. Evaluation data from the first batch showed positive results, with participants’ competencies significantly improving, particularly in communication, teamwork, and technical skills. Furthermore, 85% of interns reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the programme, while 81% of participating companies expressed similar satisfaction levels. Notably, around 35% of participants received job offers from their host companies upon completing the internship.
